Biography
Dough Boys is the solo project of Tony Doe, former vocalist and drummer of Auckland new wave band The Wait. After The Wait disbanded following their two 1985 EPs on Ode Records, Doe released a solo LP under the Dough Boys name, also on Ode Records. He then relocated, spending time in Japan where he performed with Inaka Rebels, before a long period in the UK writing and recording. His song ‘Compassion to Passion‘ had previously appeared on the Ode Records compilation All Dressed Up And No Place To Play (1984).
After returning to New Zealand, Doe formed The Reactions and continued recording, releasing the EP Nature, Trust, and Hypocrisy.
It’s always cool hearing some local homegrown music, and Tony Doe is no exception. After an 80s career in Auckland with The Wait, then The Dough Boys, with two EPs and an album on Ode Records, he moved to Japan where he played with Inaka Rebels, before a long stint in the UK and various small scale musical adventures, all the while writing and recording. What he’s come up is a nice relaxed rock EP called ‘Nature, Trust, and Hypocrisy‘.
