Biography
Erny Belle is a Ngāpuhi singer-songwriter based in Aotearoa New Zealand. Her music blends alt-folk, country, and Pacific pop into something intimate and deeply rooted in place — music shaped by the Kaipara Harbour, her whakapapa, and the landscapes of the North.
Her debut album, Venus Is Home (2022), was produced by Erny Belle herself and recorded during the summer of 2019 at Shakey Studios in Maungaturoto, Kaipara, with additional work at Depot Sound Recording Studio in Auckland. The record was dedicated “For the Kaipara – For my Nana Venus – For the thread that binds us together.” It featured contributions from Tiare Kelly, William Jackson, Rewi McLay, Morgan Allen, László Reynolds, and Johnny Payne. The album was mixed by Morgan Allen and mastered by Chris Chetland, and was initially self-released in 2022 before receiving a Flying Nun Records vinyl pressing (FN614LP) in 2023.
Her second album, Not Your Cupid (2023), was released through Flying Nun Records. Nine tracks further developed her signature blend of country-folk warmth and Pacific-inflected pop. The album was pressed to vinyl at Holiday Records in Aotearoa and available in a limited red gatefold edition of 200 copies.
