Jim Nothing is the solo project of Christchurch musician James G. Sullivan, established in 2013. Working in a lo-fi cassette tradition, Sullivan released a series of self-recorded EPs before graduating to vinyl through Melted Ice Cream and Meritorio Records. His music draws on understated indie-folk and bedroom pop, delivered with a characteristically dry Christchurch sensibility.
An early split cassette with Christchurch collective Wurld Series on Melted Ice Cream in 2015 introduced Jim Nothing to a wider NZ audience. In The Marigolds (2022) marked his debut vinyl LP, co-released by Melted Ice Cream and Meritorio Records. Grey Eyes, Grey Lynn followed in 2024 on the same labels.
