Snapper

The key group of New Zealand underground legend Peter Gutteridge (despite being a founding member of BOTH the Clean and the Chills). Snapper made driving, droning guitars-infused with synths post-punk throughout the 1980s and 1990s before Gutteridge disappeared from the public eye.

Though lasting just 18 months, Toy Love were one of New Zealand’s most influential groups. Chris Knox, Alec Bathgate and Mike Dooley had come from The Enemy were joined by the Christchurch duo of Paul Kean and Kate Walker to form the most brilliantly dynamic new wave group.

A Handful Of Dust

One of Bruce Russell’s (Dead C) and Alastair Galbraith’s darkest outfits, often dealing with distinct imagery and motif’s in their music and especially pronounced in their liner notes (most of which are distributed through Russell’s Corpus Hermeticum label).

Formed by the duo in Dunedin in 1984, and primarily a free noise group. Though primarily a duo, Peter Stapleton had been a regular contributor from 1993 until his passing in March 2020.

Cobweb Iris

Cobweb Iris was a one-off 7″ Peter King lathe cut release recorded in the small seaside villages of Port Chalmers and Purakanui (both near Dunedin) in August-October 1993 by a who’s-who of New Zealand underground musicians – mainly Michael Morley and Bruce Russell of The Dead C along with Kim Pieters, Peter Stapleton and Danny Butt of Flies Inside the Sun and Alastair Galbraith, along with one-time Mink vocalist Margot Schweigman.
