The Eversons

Calvin Johnson performing at Zebedees, Christchurch, November 2006

Zebedees

Zebedees was Christchurch’s only all-ages, alcohol-free live music venue, operating from a 400-capacity hall at 479 Blenheim Road, Sockburn from approximately 1998 to 2014. Run by Steve and Jennie White as a charitable trust for sixteen years, it hosted hundreds of local and touring bands for teenage audiences and was widely regarded as one of the best youth music venues in the world.

Tiny Ruins

Tiny Ruins are an Auckland indie folk ensemble founded in 2009, evolving from a solo project by Hollie Fullbrook into an internationally touring four-piece whose 2014 album Brightly Painted One won Best Alternative Album at the New Zealand Music Awards and whose four studio albums have each been shortlisted for the Taite Music Prize.

The Insurgents

Christchurch-based pop-group, The Insurgents were the darlings of the all-ages scene courtesy of their involvement with Will Edmonds’ Out of Kilter. The original line-up of Young, Coffey and Ellis displayed a strong Brit-pop influence on Chris Young’s songs, whilst Mike Ellis added an element of US Indie-Pop to proceedings.

Ellis and Young have tremendous chemistry together, shaping their songs with perfect harmonies and huge hooks, whilst Coffey keeps things nice and tight.
