Located on the edge of the central city, Al’s Bar opened in March 2006. Owned and operated by Al Park who has had a long career as a musician and manager of the famous Echo Music second hand store.

Al’s caters to the live music experience. Already the bar has hosted such acts as Hugh Cornwell from the Stranglers, the Warratahs, d-Dub and local legends Louie and the Hotsticks. It is the intention of the bar to provide a wide range of New Zealand and International acts, plus catering to emerging and established local acts, at little or no cost to the public.

The interior bar areas are warm, stylish and funky with rimu floors and brick walls. The outside courtyard has a distinctly European flavour with a smoker’s area and established trees surrounded by an old brick building. This area is totally enclosed and is available for outdoor gigs. All up Al’s offers a great place to play and hear music and with its many features promise to become a fixture on the live music circuit. We have the facilities to do music both inside and outside simultaneously.

Capacity -300 inside and currently having court yard re-designated to accommodate 500+. This gives us the facilities to do music both inside and outside simultaneouslY
