I first picked up a guitar prior to going on my OE in 2002. For some of the time I was away I lived on an island in the south of Britain and was lucky enough to be surrounded by talented musicians who influenced my style and introduced me to some traditional British folk (Nic Jones, Vin Garbutt), and some more recent stuff. After acquiring a taste for performing whilst busking and playing in pubs throughout the UK, I returned home (with the help of some Christmas-time busking to help with the flight) and continued playing on the local music scene. At the end of 2008 I went on to record my first EP at a local Christchurch recording studio.
Musically I have been influenced by contemporary acts like Ben Harper, Damien Rice, John Butler, John Mayer, the levellers and Jose Gonzales, and older groups such as Toto and the Beatles. When I write and perform I put an emphasis on guitar driven melodies and thought provoking lyrics with the ambition to create a musical connection between myself and the listener.
