David has been playing solo and touring regularly with GIDEON as a 3 piece band around the South Island with excellent responses in recent months from audiences on the Westcoast, Dunedin, Methven, Queenstown, Invercargil and Temuka. Plans for the rest of the year include more recording, an EP release and a very busy touring schedule with more solo and band gigs booked here in the South Island and plans for a North Island tour for Jan/Feb 2010.

Released on Thunderbox Productions (owned by Look At Me Promotions Ltd) in 2006, GIDEONS first LP ‘CONFLICT’ is a hard hitting rock album with definite blues type punk and folk influences.
Recorded at Chch’s longest standing recording facility Nightshift Studios in 2004 and 2006 with Arnie Vanbustle, owner and operator, mixing and mastering, this represents the band as you would expect them to be ‘live’, a tight rock’n outfit bursting with intelligent songs. Clear and distinctive vocals layered with solid riffing guitar and sharp lead backed and driven by one of Christchurch’s most experienced drum and bass teams, drummer Chris 2Far and Bassist Xtine.

A single ‘The Darkman’ taken from the album has been getting airplay on local radio here in Christchurch on RDU, Port FM ( Lyttelton), Plains FM also on The Zone FM (Queenstown) and Kiwi FM (Auckland).

The band have also carved a career as professional roadie/stage and event technicians having worked for many of the big name artists that have performed here in NZ over the last couple of decades including last years Rock 2 Wellington, The Big Day Out,
The Police, Billy Joel and Elton John, Joe Cocker,Michael Jackson, AC/DC, KISS, U2, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, and just about anyone else you can name.

As a guitarist, singer and songwriter David Gideon has dedicated the best part of three decades to touring and performing solo and with band, performing to audiences as diverse as schools, music festival crowds, restaurant diners and performing at pubs, cafes and concert venues nationwide.
Based in Christchurch, David plays at local spots like The Arts Centre Market, Dux De Lux in the City, The Esplanade Tavern and Coops Bar in Brighton, The Governors Bay Hotel, and the Wunderbar in Lyttelton. He knows New Zealand circuits well and regularly tours the country to perform gigs and concerts.

David’s acoustic solo repertoire and style focuses on a flexible mix of originals and covers fusing folk, classical, blues, rock and popular songs. David is a proficient classical guitarist with a growing original repertoire including popular scores like the soundtrack to the Deerhunter, Cavatina by Stanley Myers , Romance and Greensleeves and a whole lot more by composers like Carulli, Matteo Carcassi

As a group GIDEON focus on being a rock band with a wide and varied range of influences giving there live performance repertoire more drama and texture than the average rock band mixing heavy blues, folk, hard rock, punk, and classical and country for a laugh. The group have toured extensively throughout New Zealand over the years and have a fan base on the live circuit playing places like New Plymouth, Auckland and Wellington. Based in Christchurch the band play regularly around the South Island with a strong fan base in Westland, Nelson and Christchurch.
