when the have won the smoke-free rock-quest in 2002, it seemed like the judges we’re just cashing in on the then-current trend of rock’n’roll revivalists. the have not only sound like contemporaries the d4 and the datsuns – they even managed to steal elements of their look and image. single ‘the fuzz’ is almost a note-for-note recreation of the datsuns hit ‘motherfucker from hell’, lead singer brodie white sports a jimmy christmas style sideburn combination, guitarist peter mangan is draped in a datsun-style main etc. formed in wanganui high school, mangan and white are flanked by mike tweed (drums) and blair gibson (bass) and actually managed to secure a south-by-soutwest appearance in 2004, just before releasing their debut ep.
